Deluxe KOTOU-GATA / CHOKUTO Shinai (Set of 3)

Kotou-gata, also known as Chokuto, are a style of Shinai which is a similar diameter along the entire length. This gives more weight to the tip, making it perfect for those looking for a balance similar to a real Japanese sword, and for those who like to make single, decisive strikes. The bamboo is cut thicker at the tip also, so it is well suited for regular Keiko use, as well as tournaments.

Our Kotou-gata Shinai are available in both Keichiku and Madake Bamboo!

Keichiku: A species of bamboo native to Taiwan, known for its flexibility. 
Madake: A species of bamboo native to Japan, known for its hardness. 

Each Kotou-gata Shinai is made from a single bamboo plant, which provides the four slats with the best flexibility and durability.
