As the only official U.S.-based retailer of fully Made-in-Japan Kendo gear and high-quality Kendogu from companies with over a century of history, we bring together the best of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation. Our Bogu Sets
A majority of our Bogu sets are manufactured by Matsukan Kougyou Co., Ltd., one of Japan's oldest and largest Budogu manufacturers, with over 100 years of experience in the industry. Matsukan has overcome many challenges, including the martial arts ban after World War II, to continue producing some of Japan's most renowned Bogu sets like the Hirameki and Kanmuri series.
California Budogu is the only Bogu supplier in the United States to work directly with Matsukan, eliminating any middlemen. In fact, the CA Budogu Amethyst Bogu set and higher are all manufactured by or in collaboration with Matsukan. Through this partnership, we’ve collaborated to create what we believe represent the best and most well-rounded lineup in the Bogu industry.
Our Uniforms
At California Budogu, we’re excited to offer a variety of uniform sets for every budget and level of Kendoka. We’re especially proud to have partnered with Nogawa Senshoku Kougyou—an Aizome workshop with over 100 years of history and tradition—making us the exclusive retailer of the BUSHUICHI brand in the United States! Working directly with the creators of the Bushu Process, renowned for their iconic “Japan Blue,” we’re thrilled to offer not only top-quality Japanese Kendo Bogu but also Kendogi, Hakama, and other authentic Sho-Aizome products.
