Manufactured by one of Japan's ONLY workshops capable of producing 100% MADE IN JAPAN Kendogu, the KANMURI is the ultimate fusion of traditional and modern materials. This Bogu set combines regal elegance with supreme functionality and durability—befitting of the name “KANMURI.”
Combining the expertise of master artisans the Matsukan, Nanahoshi, and Tetsu brands – crafted by some of the most renowned Kendogu manufacturers in all of Japan—the KANMURI is the first of its kind to offer both the unrestricted mobility and comfort of a tournament style Bogu set, without compromising the qualities of protection or durability. While offering the look and feel of a Jissengata Bogu set, the KANMURI offers a fully made to order, made in Japan experience for those looking for a premium quality Bogu set, that is durable and protective enough for literally all occasions.
The KANMURI is fully reinforced using the finest cuts of genuine 'Aizome' dyed deerskin as standard. Utilizing only the highest quality materials, the pre-massaged Futon of the KANMURI is soft and flexible, durable, and extremely shapable. The KANMURI come ready for use out of the box with the same unique and elegant pre-shaped Mendare and Tare that have made this one of the most sought after Bogu sets in all of Japan. Despite not requiring extensive break-in time like many other Bogu sets, the high-quality, durable, and robust ‘Aizome’ deerskin evolves over time, aging beautifully in both appearance and texture as one uses it.
The Men features a straight Gunomezashi stitching pattern, alternating between 8mm along the top of the Men-buton and 4mm along the Mendare. This precise stitching complements the sharp cut of the Mendare and the straight Kazari-ito along the edge. The combination of this meticulous stitching and high-quality ‘Aizome’ deerskin reinforcements along the leading edge of the Mendare gives the KANMURI Men exceptional shapability and a commanding presence in both the Shiai-jou and Dojo—ideal for top-level Shiai-sha and high-ranking Senseis alike. Additionally, this Men is equipped with the highly sought-after IBB-N3 Mengane, utilizing a blend of Titanium, Duralumin, and Carbon Steel. This advanced Mengane optimizes balance while maintaining strength and lightness.
