This artisan-crafted 60pc bamboo Do-Dai is layered with genuine Sakuragawa, or cherry blossom bark, a rare and traditional art form from the skilled craftsmen of Akita Prefecture in Northeastern Japan. Known for its intricate and natural aesthetic, Sakuragawa is a celebrated Japanese folk art, often used in high-end items and slowly becoming a vanishing skill.

With very few artisans left capable of creating a full Sakuragawa Do-Dai, California Budogu is proud to be the only Bogu shop in the United States—and one of the few worldwide—to offer such an exquisite and unique piece. Each Do-Dai is layered with carefully arranged pieces of cherry blossom bark, giving it a one-of-a-kind texture and appearance. Due to the organic nature of the material, no two Sakuragawa Do-Dai are identical, making each piece truly unique.

Note: This Do-Dai is crafted from genuine cherry blossom bark, and with repeated use, minor chipping may occur. However, unlike standard Do, Sakuragawa Do-Dai can be sent back to the artisans for restoration, with new bark pieces added as needed. With proper care, this Do can easily last a lifetime.
